Starting out in front of the pavillion there are several trails, go through the gap in the fence and go left on the trail nearest to the barrier, all the way to the end and then around the high bushes to the left and onto the trail on the other side.
Follow this trail and pretty quickly you will see a gate and trail to the left. Go through the gate and follow the trail... it doesn't matter which way as this is a wee loop through the dog area (if you have your dog with you it's ok to let them off their lead here but not in the rest of the park). Once you have completed the loop, head left back onto the trail, staying on the left hand trail, stop and admire the carved tree trucks, carry on and the trail will veer left towards the trees and the point, head down onto the beach for about 50m and then up the semi-trail to the ridge, keep going left looping right out to the tip of the wee peninsula.
There is a track down to water level if you want to check it out. Then head back keeping left again, this time staying on top of the ridge and making the wee climb up to the post at the top, then hop onto the trail and keep following the left hand trails to do the outside loop of the park. Sometimes you have the choice of a MTB trail to the left of the main path which is more fun, but it's up to you.
There is another wee peninsula out and back at about 2.2km, then keep following the orange arrows until at about 3.5km there is a green arrow pointing left... go that way, then back onto orange. At the next green arrow ignore it and keep following orange. Eventually you will loop back to behind the carpark, but you aren't done - follow the trail, it splits with one section (the right) heading off downhill, follow the left, it loops gently back around to the front of the pavillion near where you started. Head back to the car or out for another lap.
Cool views for much of the course over some of the North harbour inlets, lots of Pohutukawa.

A nice small loop with great views. Easy rolling trails completely off road. If you stay to the very left at all times you will mostly be running on easy single trail rather than the gravel trail. It’s a great place for a bit of speed work. Fantastic toilets and shelter. There is even free hot showers!! I’ve never, ever encountered that before.
