Easy entrance off of Haigh's Access Rd, where there is plentiful parking. It's a single track out-and-back. Some really good climbs, and lots of stairs. Most of the track is covered by bush, and there is also a beach option around the headland accessible at low-tide.
Lots of beautiful native bush. At the halfway point there is a lovely old homestead and a dotterel nesting area on the beach.
There is plenty of parking at the track entrance.

Easy.
No wrong turns, this is a single-track course.
Perfect throughout.
Short-sleeved thermal top, Gloves, Beanie/thermal headwear, First aid kit, Cellphone, Map.
There are taps at Dacre Cottage (halfway point).
Can get muddy after rain in some places so exercise caution, particularly on stair descents.
Several steep stair descents; it would be very easy to take a tumble of roll an ankle, so be cautious.

Okura end of track is closed due to Kauri dieback - but Stillwater to Dacre Cottage section still open. Well maintained track, nice views. Pretty gentle.

It was nice trail near town which you can easily access to. Great exposures to beach and trails with not too much technical section.

this has been a good running option while the waitakeres are closed. Not quite as beautiful but pretty close and fun to run on the beach at low tide! This was closer to 17km when I ran it... total so 8.7 must be a one way distance :)

Particularly loved the heavy native bush sections, especially the enormous old Puriri trees.
