Super views and a real reward for the climb from Halswell Quarry. Section to the top from Crater Rim Track very overgrown when I did it and tough going...

Mt Ada is reached on a short diversion track from the Crater Rim track. It is also the summit of the popular Halswell and Kennedy's Trail Directory run. The peak derives its name from Ada, wife of the famous Harry Ell who established the Port Hills as a recreation / tourism destination in the first half of the 20th century. Mt Ada affords one of the best, most popular and most prominent viewing points in all of the Port Hills.
