A scenic loop track taking in the Sister City Gardens and sculptures showcasing six of Christchurch's sister cities - Adelaide (South Australia), Christchurch (England), Gansu Province (China), Kurashiki (Japan), Seattle (USA), and Songpa-Gu (Korea). This short loop can be used as an introduction to trail running or a warm up/cool down in conjunction to the many other trail options that start from Halswell Quarry.

Sister City monuments, great view over the actual Halswell Quarry

Loads of parking and plenty of people around.

Easy.

The only unmarked part of the trail is when you come off the hill and skirt around the edge of one of the dog exercise areas, you soon join back up with the trail which goes over a seriously cool bridge.

Generally good.

Cellphone, Map.

Drink fountain at the start/end

Trail is well formed and largely all weather, one section heading uphill may get a bit slick during rain.

Trail Reviews

Nice area for a short loop run. There isn’t actually a description of the route to follow, with many different track options you just end up following an approximate path based on the gpx. Nice area to run in though.

Good to link in with other trails. Good fun trying to spot all the different city plaques

Always pleasant running in this park, can be busy though. Easy to link up with other trails for a points bagging fest!

Short but sweet - nice idea to visit all the sister city monuments in one go. Good for a warmup or cooldown or if you wanted to extend a run in the area by a few kms.
