A slighter longer version of 'Rocking Gibraltar' that goes further down into the valley to visit Anne Falls.
It is in a lesser known area of the Port Hills network and can be combined with bagging Coopers Knob for a bonus 2km + vert if you are a keen PeakBagger. From the carpark, head down a zig zag track that will have you at the junction for climbing Gibraltar Rock - a compulsory diversion for stunning views. A bit scrambly near the top, but nothing technical.
Once climbed, backtrack and head steadily down Prendergasts Track. This will meet Kirks Tracks midway down the flowing descent through the bush. Turn right at the junction and head down Nelsons Track towards Anne's Falls, a small waterfall in some call the 'best pocket of bush' in the Christchurch Port Hills.
After the obligatory photo op to upload alongside your Strava, continue along Nelsons track until it hits the next junction with Rhodes Track. You will now start the climb portion of the adventure. Most of it is runnable and a great leg burner on the way back up to the car.

Always love the western Port Hills! First time up Gibraltar Rock for me... nice wee scramble. I had expected the trails to be muddy and slippery, but was pleasantly surprised to find them in good nick.

Omahu Bush is always one of the best treats on the whole Port Hills. Nice to add the waterfall in. 5 stars.
