The start of the trail is from Simla Crescent, with a small car park (enough for 3-4 cars) and a trail signpost/map. Follow the signs towards Kaukau summit.

The first left is a few hundred metres from the start. The remainder of the navigation to the top just requires you to stay on the main upward track signposted to the summit. A mixture of single trail and stairs climbs the 1.8km and approx 300m elevation to Kaukau summit.

Admire the views then continue past the viewing platform to the left along the skyline track, signposted towards Crows Nest and Bells track. The initial section can be slippery when wet and crosses a cattle grid. The skyline track then follows a wide undulating trail with amazing views over Wellington. Continue on this for approx 1.7km, before following the signpost down to Bells track and Awarua St on the left.

Bells Track descends 165 metres including some short technical rocky sections and steep stairs to Awarua Street. Follow paved Awarua Street all the way down to Khandalla Road, take a left and continue 800 metres back along the road to Simla Crescent. You will have to pass over a train track at the start of Simla Crescent. Barriers will descend if a train is coming.

Both Awarua and Khandalla streets have good-sized pedestrian sidewalks and safe crossings. The loop finishes back at the Simla Crescent carpark to Khandalla park.

Amazing views over Wellington Fun varied trails.

Woodmancote Road Carpark and Ngaio Town Hall Carpark.

3-4 car parking spots at the entrance on simla crescent. If these are full, there are free parking spots further up or down the street. Stay clear of people's driveways.
