What to expect:
Nice compacted gravel track with views of SH2, Wellington Airport, Somes Island and more. Undulating and all 100% runnable in not too grippy trail shoes. Only a few small cell phone dead spots.

Start:
Follow the trail until you reach the pavement at Cromwell Point. Continue in the same direction and turn right at Tamworth. Run all the way to the bottom of the hill until you see an entry sign for the trail.

Follow the trail and keep right as all of the left options take you back up the hill to civilisation. Eventually, you will come to a point after a short sharp climb where both a right and left turn exist as well as straight ahead. In this case, continue straight ahead as the right turn takes you to a viewing point picnic bench.

After a few kms you will be running alongside Ladbrooke Drive where the trail becomes smooth and quite slippery when wet. Continue on and when the tree cover ends you will hit a left turn option (recommended when wet / if you have road shoes) or continue straight and take it carefully down the small cliff side with a touch of gorse.

Head towards Woodridge and run a loop of Hauora Reserve before descending down into the valley. At White Pine Ave. reserve run behind the last house on the left side and then swerve right to find the trail head. Follow the trail all the way downhill. Head left across the small footbridge, then left again to head back up the hill. Take note of the ascent back to Newlands as there are three options. You will want to go to Colchester Drive (centre trail).

After the climb, you will be back in civilisation and can make your way back to Somes Crescent / your start point.
