From the Silverpeaks Track carpark take the main Silverpeaks track towards Pulpit Rock. At about 3 km look for a turn off to the left with a rather discrete sign for Greengauge track.

Greengauge drops down really steep to the creek and then up steeply before joining Rain Guage. Follow Rain Gauge track up to the tussock on Swampy. Before meeting the road there is a track to the left called Rollinsons Track. Follow this to join Swampy Ridge track, turn left and join back on to the Green Ridge Silverpeaks track. Turn right and it's just 1km back to the car.

This trail includes the peak Hightop.

Wonderful views, native bush (beech and podocarp and regenerating)

Moderate.

Follow the GPX as there are a couple of other tracks and the turn off to Green Gauge is not obvious.

Patchy.

Long-sleeved thermal top, Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Gloves, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Survival blanket, Cellphone, Map

The creek at the bottom has some good drinkable water. It's about half way round but most of the climbing is after this point.

Can be done any season but it will get muddy and slippery especially on Swampy Ridge track.

Trail Reviews

Easy to navagate track, wouldnt reccomend doing this after rain as the creek rises alot and the track down becomes more like a mud slide. Not to mention the fun to be had once you break out onto Swampy track... Not a place for the Trail Princess
Have added photos of the Creek after rain (we bailed) and week after with good weather.
