Start from Texas Flat Carpark. (Alternatively start from the Castle Hill end of the Hogsback track).

Follow the Hogsback Track to Waterfall Creek. Cross the creek follow the trail about 100m then veer right across the open land and a small marshy area to an obvious small spur. Ascend this anywhere that takes your fancy, then head right up the main spur to Mount Izard.

It starts off gradual then hits with a steep quad burning ascent. Many knolls make for continual false summits. But the last lead-in to the actual summit is pleasurably gentle.

Return the same way.

This trail includes the peak Mount Izard.

Stunning views.
