Description
The trail is wide gravel that starts climbing gently beside the Waiora Stream, crossing a couple of times by bridge. The steep climb then begins up a series of steps totalling 700 in all. There is a viewing area for the Cooksen Kauri at the top. Return the same way.

Access
Head south out of Thames on SH25. At the BP turn left onto Banks Road. At the end of Banks Street turn right onto Parawai Road. Continue for 18 km to Wainora Campsite. Go into the campsite and follow road to carpark.
