Description

The track follows the Cairnmuir DOC track, up and over the Cairnmuir Range. From the start at Cornish Point, you follow the DOC marking up the road and then veer off to the right at the specified sign and head up the hill proper. Follow the markings for the duration of the track which will take you all the way out to Hawksburn Rd. Once you get to Hawksburn Rd, follow the road to the left and downhill until you meet the tarsealed road. Head left on the bitumen, cross the red bridge and you've made it to Clyde!

Wild Explorers

I did it!
  • Access

Start of DOC track on Cornish Point Rd, on your right, if you hit gravel you've gone too far.

Small parking area. Reasonably safe area.

  • Staying Safe

    Easy.

    Generally good.

Thermal leggings, Long-sleeved thermal top, Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Gloves, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map.

Small stream near Musterers Hut, in farmland though so drink at your own risk. Best take your own!

Snow on tops during winter and can be bitterly cold when windy, even in summer.

  • Post run indulgence

    Merchant of Clyde
Sunderland Street, Clyde, Central Otago, New Zealand (Next to Olivers)
    http://oliversvictoriastore.co.nz/merchant-of-clyde-caf-deli-bakery
Great coffee and food right in the middle of the historic main road.
