Description
This is a very new trail and is still being developed further. Duck into the trail opposite King Street and you will be running alongside Mākōtuku River. You go under the road at the Raetihi-Ohakune Road and then there is a small BMX/Pump Track on the right - perfect to bring the kids along. You then go along the footpath, behind the Raetihi Holiday Park.
You come out of the bush soon afterwards, but can head back soon by keeping to the left. The next time you come out onto the road, you need to go through the graveyard on the left to get to the rest of the trail. However, instead of going through the graveyard, perhaps think of going alongside the road so as to avoid running near graves.
After the graveyard you go through the gate on the left and drop down into the bush. Down here there are two loops - one to the left, then one to the right. This trail takes in both of these loops and there are no other trails here, so you will run all of them. When you come back out in the graveyard after the second loop, you return the way you came, alongside the graveyard, behind the Holiday Park and then you will come out again opposite King Street.
