About this hut

The hut is locked – refer to your booking confirmation for how to obtain the access code.

It sleeps 32 in four bunk rooms with eight bunks in each of the rooms: Kea, Kiwi, Kokopu and Kapowai. Each bunk room is sole occupancy.

Facilities provided:

  • shared kitchen and living area
  • gas cooking hob, 4 x 2 ring burners
  • pots, pans, crockery and cooking utensils
  • cold tap water
  • wood burner heating 
  • containment toilets
  • candle holders

You need to bring:

  • Sleeping bag and personal equipment
  • Candles, headlamp or torch for lighting
  • Matches or lighter
  • Toilet paper

Cooking, Heating, Mattresses, Toilets - non-flush, Water from tap - not treated, boil before use, Water supply

Fees and bookings

Fees

The fees are for up to eight people in a sole occupancy bunk room. There are four bunk rooms. 

1 May - 30 September

  • $121 per night 

1 October - 30 April

  • Weekdays: $142 per night
  • Weekends: $163 per night

1 December - 29 February

  • Weekdays: $190 per night
  • Weekends: $218 per night

Bookings

Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2027.

  • If no availability shows online for your dates, the lodge is fully booked.
  • No spaces are kept for visitors arriving without a booking.
  • Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
  • Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.
