A steep and scenic tour of the steep sections of Whareroa farm along with some contrasting fast 4wd road sections.
From the carpark, head out along the farm track for a km, past the toilets/caravan hub. Take a right turn before the stream crossing heading along the flat and a shared MTB track. When you get to a sign saying not to go up the downhill MTB track there is a small sign and blue pole marked route heading off the trail to the right and then up a steep spur for another km.
Follow the blue poles all the way until you reach the farm road at the top. Follow this for almost two km around to the left/north until you reach the mtb/tramping tracks turnoff back to the farm. If it’s late in the day and there’s no bikes around the grassy ridge track is the fastest, steepest way back.
If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
