From the car park, run south back up the road for 200m then turn right onto the trail. Follow this up to another car park, then keep right on the Coastal Trail. Follow this until it reaches the road (around the 2km mark). There are several smaller off-shoot trails but just stay on the main one hugging the beach. When you hit the road, follow it south and round in an anticlockwise direction until you reach the Inland Track off to your right (around 2.6km).

Follow this undulating trail all the way back to the first intersection where you joined the Coastal Track. Now turn right and follow the tram lines up Whareroa road, ignore the Old Farm Track turnoff, go past the US marine memorial and just as you reach the Ramaroa centre (6.2km), turn left and go past the stables onto the Whareroa Stream Loop.

This trail follows the stream and brings you out onto the Te Ara o Whareroa Trail at around 8.1k. This trail is sealed and popular with bikes so be aware. Turn right onto the trail and after around 100m, turn left at the sign marked for the Coastal Track. Follow this up and out towards the beach. Once you're at the T-junction, turn left and follow it back to the car park where you started.

Queen Elizabeth Park is home to the Tram museum (open for rides on weekends and public holidays) and the US Marines memorials.

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.

Plenty of car parking here or at the main information centre.

Train: Catch the Metlink Kāpiti Line to the Paekākāriki railway station, then walk or bike 1.5km to the southern park entrance at the end of Wellington Road.

Bus: Take a No. 250 bus from Paraparaumu railway station to Jeep Rd, Raumati South.

There are several toilet and water blocks around the park (at the start/finish, at the Paekākāriki end and at the main Ramaroa centre).

Trails are very exposed so take lots of sun protection and wind/rain protection if needed.

Dogs can be off lead and bikes use some of the trails.
