The River Trail as you head back to the beach is closed for repairs from Cumberland to near the Cemetery. Your alternatives are to retrace your steps down the right or take a variety of temporary trails and streets.
This is the trail used in the Urban Trail Race, one of the 3 trail race series held around New Plymouth. The route follows the Te Henui walkway exploring both sides of the river through some beautiful bush with just a couple of road sections linking the trails together.
