From the Bridge Street car park follow the Frankton Trail towards the Frankton Beach. After 500m leave the Frankton Track and head up Allan Cres passed the Remarkables Primary School on your right. At the top of Allan Cres turn left onto Lake Ave. Follow Lake Ave for 200m and turn right at the council sign ‘to McBride Street’. At the top of this wee track, cross McBride Street and head across the grassy section towards SH6. Head for the traffic lights on your left and follow the track to the events centre.

At the events centre turn left and follow the road to SH 6 (Ladies Mile). Cross SH6 and head for Hansen Road. Hansen Road will take you all the way to Tucker Beach Road. The first part of Hansen Road is paved/gravel, after 800m you will reach a gate and Hansen Road turns into a farm track. You will get to an intersection (about 3.6kms into your run), turn left to stay on Hansen Road.

Follow this track, you will cross two gates and you will get back to paved/gravel parts of Hansen Road. Turn left here until you get to Tuckers Beach Road. Turn right at the intersection and follow the Tuckers Beach Road for 300m, turn left onto a 4WD track that will take you to Tuckers Beach. Once at the Tuckers Beach car park turn right, follow the track for 100m and turn right to follow Tuckers Beach Track all the way to the Old Shotover Bridge.

The view from the bridge up to Coronet Peak is breath-taking. From Old Shotover Bridge follow the Twin Rivers Trail back to Kawarau Bridge.

Trail Reviews

I loved this little run, It is level 4 lockdown, and this little run is the only one right at my back door, so sweet, and loved the hill up the back of Hanson Road to lake Johnson, will do it the other way in a few days...

A good local loop taking in areas that are not always as well travelled. Lake Johnston, Tuckers Beach, Lower Shotover Bridge and Kawarau Falls bridge al feature on the run. The last segment takes in per of the Queenstown Marathon course.
