This description starts and finishes at Waipuna Park for ease of parking, but can be started anywhere along the route.

From the south east corner of main carpark at Waipuna Park, drop down onto the track - you'll cross a bridge over a small stream and then hit the main gravel track. Here, take a right.

Follow this gravel path up Johnson Reserve, bearing right as you go. Eventually, the gravel will end and you'll head up a footpath/alley which links onto Pelorus Street. Follow Pelorus Steet, then right onto Osprey Drive and then down to Waitaha Road where you'll turn right (uphill).

Take the right left onto Riverstone Drive, and then to the bottom of Orakei Place. Here, you're back onto a single-track gravel path, through native bush all the way down to Welcome Bay Road.

When you hit the road, turn right, and pound out some pavement until you reach the junction with James Cook Drive. Here, head back onto the gravel path that is the start of Johnson Reserve. Follow this up the reserve and back to Waipuna Park to complete the loop.

Toilets at the carpark.

There's loads of parking.
