A good leg burner if you're after a quick climb on technical terrain. Heading from car park follow the Tirohanga track towards the Ruapane Lookout. You'll start climbing quite soon and after about a km of steps and well groomed path the track gets steeper and you're scrambling up and over tree roots and muddy embankments. At 1.5kms you'll join up with another track but follow the signs to Ruapane lookout. The last 300m or so has you scaling some steep rocks, and you'll need shoes with a good grip for this. Catch your breath at the trig, and take in the views before heading back the way you came.

This trail includes the peak Ruapane.

Awesome fun with some chains to help you get up the rocky bits. Well worth doing.
