The track is well signposted, and as an out and back track, with only one other track turn off halfway up there isn't much room for you to get lost. The track is easy to follow, single track with the typical tramping track with the odd bog or windfall, roots, rocks etc. A simple hut available at the turning point with the only chance for a few out to the coast or up the mountain, with a toilet (long drop).

This trail includes Kahui Hut.

Great views out to the Western Taranaki coast from the Hut.

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.

There is carparking available for 10+ cars, not normally that busy.

Generally good.

Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map

Water available at the hut. This is from the roof of the hut, so boil water notice is advised by DOC

There can be windfallen trees especially after storms. These are normally easily navigated around
