Follow the well formed gravel path clockwise around the lake, turning right at the first and second major intersections. After the second intersection the gravel footpath disappears and the single trail starts.

Wonderful ups and downs, often technical and great views around every corner.

When you are getting towards the end of the loop, turn right down the road to the lakefront, heading right around the picnic table to the righthand along the lakefront and around the second picnic table (after stopping for pics), then head back up the road and back on to the trail to the finish.

White Quartz mine leavings that have created an amazing other-wordly terrain. A lake that started out as a hill and was removed all the way to become the deepest mine at the time in the Southern Hemisphere.

Plenty of places to park.

Easy.

Generally good.

Waterproof leggings, Long-sleeved thermal top, Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Gloves, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map

Nothing drinkable without treatment.

The technical section gets quite slippery in places after rain, navigable but care needed. You may get snow.

Slippery sections as above, also narrow technical trail on the edge, at times steep banks.
