This is an out-and-back trail.
Head onto the Timber Trail from the Barryville Road carpark. Around the 2.5 km mark on the Timber Trail, there is a 200m detour to an old tractor and stationary steam engine.
Around the 11 km mark on the trail, you will reach the junction to the summit of Mount Pureora. It's 1.8 km to the summit trig from the junction. Note that the track to the summit is in rough condition.
Retrace your steps back to the start.
There is a toilet at the rest area by the junction.
This trail includes the peak Pureora.
Old tractor and steam engine Panoramic views of surrounding mountains on a nice day - Mount Taranaki and Mount Ruapehu.
There are two flushable toilets at the carpark and a toilet by the junction, about 11km in.
