Description
This loop can be shortened easily, the 8.4km is two laps and then a short blast to the top of the hill in the middle. Go either direction from the carpark, cannot get lost just keep the hook to your left or right. After your two laps, head straight up the single track in front of you, this used to be a Maori pa and was an island before the 1931 earthquake. There is a small installation at the summit and some information before you descend back to the carpark the same way.
