Begin outside the Omokoroa Boat Club and run down The Esplanade to pick up the trail at road's end. Follow the trail until the end at about the 3km mark where you'll need to head up to Lakeside Terrace. There's about 1km of footpath running along Lakeside Terrace and then left onto Lynley Park Drive.

Pick the trail up at Tamihana Park where you'll cross a bridge and when the trail forks go left. This will take you on a loop up to Ongarahu Pa and around Plummer's Point. There's a short section where you can run on the grass verge or road (very few cars) until you reach Kotuku Reserve. Look out for a blue cycle way marker on the right which will complete the loop and take you back to the trail and eventually where you began.

The route forms part of the Omokoroa to Tauranga cycleway. There's plenty of birdlife and sweeping sea views to keep you interested along the way as well as the impressive looking Ongarahu Pa at Plummer's Point.

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.

Usually there's plenty of parking by Omokoroa Domain, although this can be busy during height of summer and holidays.

Trail Reviews

A great track to run on as it has a mix of boardwalk, cycle track, road, and sand. I have done this track in varying parts a number of times but if time is limited this small loop is great. There is a modern toilet block at the halfway point with a drinking fountain just at the front.
