Starting at the carpark you will see the gate through the predator proof fence. Enter here and follow the yellow trail markers (heritage trail) through the native bush. Once exiting the bush you head up the hill through some farmlands. You should see the poles through the paddock but head to your left so you can exit through the gate at top and then head up to the lookout. Once you have had your full of the views head back along (the way you came) the gravel road along the top of the ridge and it will start heading down, on your right you will see the gate into the farmlands. Follow this route again following the yellow trail markers. This trail will continue again until another gate through the predator proof fence. Here cross the road and continue following the pole route through the paddock. This will eventually get you down the hill to the beach to a road to your right, follow this road briefly until the track continues on your right. This will take you through the wetlands, across another road and then back to the carpark.
Though is is a short route you can check out the signs for additional track options. The Heritage trail is the best for the bush, the other trails use a lot of the gravel roads.

Had the pleasure of roaming around here for work and for play when I was Auckland domiciled. A great asset to the region
