You don’t have to go far in Wellington to find a trail — the hills and bush start almost straight out of the city.
Wellington is made for getting off the road. Trails climb straight out of the suburbs onto ridgelines, wind through patches of native bush, and follow the rugged coastline around the edge of the city.
There’s plenty of variety too — quick after-work loops, steep climbs with big views, technical bush tracks and longer missions linking together the hills surrounding the city. And being Wellington, you can probably count on a bit of wind somewhere along the way.
You don’t have to travel far to find the good stuff either. Some of Wellington’s best trails start surprisingly close to the middle of town.
