Description
This really is the run that has it all, a flat 1.5km loop around Lake Te Koutu in central Cambridge. But wait, surrounding the flat loop are eight lovely hill trails of approximately 20 meters elevation each. They're spaced fairly evenly around the loop, and if you take all of them, you'll extend your loop to 2.5kms, with around 160m elevation. Better yet, the trails vary in gradient, so you can choose to practice gradual or steep hills, hill springs, steps, slippery steep downhill, or lovely stride-outs. There's more, because the lake is surrounded by hill and trees, half the trail is guaranteed to be blissfully shady. Want to bring your four-legged running buddy? No problem, take him on the lead and off you go. Had a couple of beersies and big curry for dinner last night? No problem, Te Koutu has two toilets around your loop, one at the carpark, and one at the top of one of those lovely hills, near the playground, there goes that excuse for not getting out the door. It's a safe place to run with headphones in, if that's what you're into.
Now, are you ready for the free set of steak knives? Just next to the playground is one of those outdoor gym equipment spots! Get your leg press/raise, shoulder press exercises done in the fresh outdoors. Something for everyone - Lake Te Koutu has it all :-)
