Description
From the north end of Waihi Beach take the DoC track over to Orokawa Bay, then after the beach continue north to join the Homunga Bay Track which is just over the second creek crossing. Follow this track all the way to Homunga Bay. At Homunga, you can drop to the right down to the beach for a look or turn left and head up, up, up on "the Nugget Climb of Death" to Ngatitangata Road. If you're going one way you can arrange for to be picked up here, or if you're going out and back, turn around and follow your footsteps back to Waihi Beach.

Access
The north end of The Esplanade, Waihi Beach
Park in the car park at the north end of Waihi Beach. There are toilets and showers handy, and there's great swimming in front of the surf club.

Staying Safe
Hard.
There are a couple of turnoffs but if you keep an eye on the signs and follow the orange DoC markers you'll find it easy to navigate.
Patchy.
Long-sleeved thermal top, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Survival blanket, Cellphone, Map.
There is no water available on this track. All of the creeks drain from farms inland so I wouldn't recommend drinking from them. Carry your own.
It's pretty weather-proof. Some of the creek crossings may be a bit swift and deep during severe and sustained rainy periods, but it's usually open all year round.
Take care around cliff tops. The track is quite narrow in places with a few tree roots. If you go over the side it will be a long tumble to the rocks and sea below.
