This is a mainly flat out and back with no side trails and really no way to go wrong. It is largely flat so perfect for speedwork, but if you haven't been there before, take it slower and check out the myriad birdlife.

Wild Explorers

I did it!
  • Access

Head from Rotorua towards Blue Lake, turn right at the signs for Lake Okareka... follow that road right into Okareka town and almost through until you see Acacia Road (and a sign to the walkway). Head down there until you reach the carpark

Parking for several vehicles off the road

    12 km

    17 minutes

  • Staying Safe

No way you can go wrong here... when you reach the end of the formed trail, turn around!

    Generally good.

Windproof jacket, Whistle, First aid kit, Cellphone, Map.

    A whole lake full

Great in all weather - well made and boardwalk. The occasional puddle or small patch of mud in winter

    Nothing of note
