Christchurch is flat until it really isn’t — with easy running around the city and plenty of hills and trails just to the south.
Christchurch gives you two very different kinds of running. Around the city there are flat, easy trails for getting some kilometres in, while the Port Hills rise straight up to the south with climbs, ridgelines and plenty of singletrack.
Head uphill and there’s a big network of trails linking reserves, valleys and summits, with views back across the city and out towards Lyttelton Harbour. You can put together anything from a short hill loop to a much longer day linking trails along the tops.
And when you don’t feel like climbing, there are plenty of flatter options closer to town.
