Trail running in
Auckland might be a big city, but you don’t have to go far to find a decent trail.
Auckland might be our biggest city, but there’s a surprising amount of good trail running squeezed in around it. Regional parks, bush reserves, coastal tracks and volcanic cones mean you’re rarely that far from somewhere to get off the road.
Head west and things get wilder, with steep, rugged trails through the Waitākere Ranges. Around the city there are shorter bush tracks and plenty of hills, while further north and south open up even more options for a longer mission.
You might have traffic and suburbs to contend with getting there, but once you’re on the trail, you can feel a long way from the city.
