About this hut

This is one of seven Great Walk huts on the Heaphy Track.

A historic and traditional hut with an open fire, it's full of character. It's nestled against beech forest on a limestone outcrop. Explore the numerous caves, nooks and crannies in the area.

Facilities

All huts on the Heaphy Track have heating, long drop toilets supplied with toilet paper, and cold running water.

There are no gas cooking facilities at Gouland Downs Hut, unlike some huts on the track. Bring your own cooker and cooking utensils. There is also no lighting at this hut. There are no showers in any of huts.
