Start at The Pines and work your way along Barra Track to Mitre Flats hut. The turnoff to Mitre / Pukeamoamo is just before the hut, so either head up or stop off at the hut for a quick water refill.

Work your way up to Mitre / Pukeamoamo and enjoy the views. On a good day you'll see as far as Ruapehu and 360 views of the Wairarapa, Kapati and the South Island. Drop down and tacke Girdlestone, enjoy the view to Tarn Ridge and then head south to the 3 Kings.

From here you'll get to the Baldy turnoff, make your way down the Baldy track, heading back to Mitre Flats hut and the Barra track to get you back home.
