Description
Head on the trail, at first it is wide and easy going. At about 1.6km you pass the only side trail for the run (Paddy's Trail), ignore that and carry on.
From here a nice gradual descent to lake level. Once you pass the rocky beach section you hit some stellar single trail, just wonderful to run and soft underfoot.
Follow the trail, watch out for the robins, fantails, and tomtits. At about 5km you reach the turn for Whisky Falls. Just a quick 500m and you are there. Take in your fill and head back the way you came.

Features of interest
Lake Rotoiti is always beautiful. Whisky Falls are quite impressive as well.

Access
Once in St Arnaud, find your way to Mt Robert Road. Head up Mt Robert Road, past the Jetty and over the new bridge. About 1km past that you will see the exit to the trail on the left. Proceed another 100m and there is a carpark on the right.
Room for quite a few cars in the carpark just past the start of the trail.

Staying Safe
Easy.
Patchy.
Thermal leggings, Long-sleeved thermal top, Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Gloves, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map.
Lots, streams you'll cross and a big lake!
Can be snow in winter and the streams you cross could get dodgy after very heavy rain.
Rocks by the lake edge, a largish stream crossing and a couple of small ones.
