Start from car park and do a quick loop of the signal station track before heading down stairs to the ocean (west) side of the track to get to the Waimamauku Coastal Track. Following the orange DOC markers southwards. Turn around and back to the start at any point along here when you feel you have had enough. Alternatively, access is possible through to Waimamaku Beach Road at southern end of track if you can arrange a pick-up from that end.

Great way to explore the coast around Omapare. Fantastic views across to the sand dunes on the Northern side of the harbour entrance and down the coast to the south. A bit of beach running as well as some open fields.

Easy.

Just stick to the coast. Some orange markers hard to spot, but generally able to pick them up when needed.

Patchy.

First aid kit, Cellphone

Take your own

The fields could be a bit muddy in winter, but given the coastal nature, it will never be too bad.

amazing views! the trail is soft and tough going at times but worth it for the location. also the local take away fish and chips as pretty reasonable.N.B. i would have given this 5 stars but for some reason it wouldn't work and kept telling me to reselect the star rating!
