Park at the rest area beside the highway just off the southern end of the bridge. Start by making your way along the rough 4wd track parallel to the road bridge. You will need to veer left and duck under the railway bridge where you can. This area is a little wild and often muddy - just pick whatever 4wd tracks are passable. Keep making your way eastwards along the 4wd tracks. This area is used by motorbikes, so take care.

When you reach an open grassed area, join the River Terraces Walkway and follow it in a northeasterly direction. This gravel path initially winds through native plantings before following along the edge of an old river terrace, with plantation forest on your left and farmland down below on your right.

After about 3km, the trail ends at a gravel road. Turn around and head back the way you came. This time, instead of turning off near the transfer station, carry on to the end of the gravel pathway, which ends at a cul de sac. Follow the road and take the small trail around the left hand side of the dog park. This brings you back into the 4wd trail network where you can duck under the railway bridge and back to your car.
