About this hut

Waipakihi Hut is popular with both hunters and trampers out to explore the southern end of the Kaimanawa Forest Park. Reach the hut through the river valley itself, or via the Urchin and Umukarikari tracks.

The hut is made up of a central kitchen area with wood burner, table and sink with internal water; and a bunk room sleeping six to either side.

From the front veranda there are great views down the river valley, and out over the sparse, alpine environment of the Kaimanawa range tops.
