Camp amongst the kānuka forest just off SH7 between Hanmer Springs and Lewis Pass. Boyle Campsite is on the Te Araroa Trail and at the end of the five-day tramp on the St James Walkway.

Convenient overnight camping for those walking the St James Walkway and Te Araroa, or stay and explore surrounding beech forests and Boyle River.

The campsite has separate areas for up to six vehicles/campervans and an enclosure (no vehicle access) for tents.

The adjacent offers a drop off service for tramping, but must be booked in advance.

Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2027.

  • If no availability shows online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked.
  • No spaces are kept for campers arriving without a booking.
  • Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
  • Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.
