This is one of those times.
I wanted a way to track my bike commute.
Wait... did he just say bike on Wild Things?! π±
Hear me out.
My commute is mostly on the road, so it was never going to make it into the Wild Things Trail Directory. And honestly, it shouldn't. The Trail Directory is for discovering great places to get outside, not for documenting the route between my house and the office.
Oh, and then there's the small detail that I'm on my bike π΄ββοΈ ...
But I still wanted to know things like:
β How many times have I ridden it?
β What's my fastest time?
β Am I getting quicker or just imagining it?
Then I started thinking...
If I want this, surely plenty of other people do too.
Maybe you've got a favourite lunchtime running loop. A regular dog walk. A local hill repeat. A gravel ride. A training circuit. Or yes... a bike commute.
They're important routes to you, even if they don't belong in our trail directory.
Personal Routes are exactly that β private routes that only you can see.
VIPs can simply upload a GPX file or paste in a link to an existing Strava or Garmin activity, and we'll build your route.
From then on, whenever you complete that route again, it'll automatically recognise and record it.
That means you can easily keep track of:
β Every time you complete the route
β Your times
β Your personal bests
And unlike the public Trail Directory, Personal Routes work with any activity type.
Runs. Rides. Walks. Hikes. Skiing. Swimming. Kayaking. Your commute. Whatever you use Strava or Garmin for.
Personal Routes is available to VIP members, so if you're a VIP, give it a go. If you've got a regular route you run, ride, walk or commute, I'd love to hear what you end up using it for.
Happy trails...
...and apparently, occasionally, happy bike commutes too. π΄π
