From the trailhead follow the slight incline down from the left of the sign along a basic 4WD track. You will shortly come to a clearing with a large white marked pole to the left, and up the bank here onto single trail. A short ramble along bush trail will bring you down to the edge of Tawarau River, and you follow the track along to a board bridge across the river.
Take care with navigation from here, as you'll shortly come to the first of a zig zag of three or four river crossings. If you do no keep an eye on markers and look for the crossings, you can easily continue along the river bank on what appears to be the formed trail. Other than these crossings, navigation is simply a case of following the trail and keeping an eye on markers as you go. After the crossings there's a long section alongside the river bank and jumping side streams and falls until you get to an open rock covered glade.
Continuing on from here you'll eventually climb a little before arriving at the fork for Tawarau Falls. This is a short but sharp descent of the hill below, with chain link to guide and secure you, before arriving below Tawarau Falls. Return up the hill, then continue on the loop track. A long uphill section here eventually takes you out to more 4WD track. Go right from here (NOT in the direction of Double Falls, Speedies Rd, or Were Rd).
Following the track from here you will loop back to the trailhead.
The trail is alongside and crosses the beautiful Tawarau River, with a descent below Tawarau Falls.
