Description
Not much to know here. Just follow the trail out, it has been built as part of an eventual cycleway all the way from Te Anau to Manapouri and, as it is still very new, it is more like a gravel road than a trail. I think age will slowly make it a much better trail as the bush grows in closer and makes it a bit more intimate.
So follow the trail out for just over 4 and a half km to what is now the end of the trail following the Lake2Lake signs - to where you get to road with no trail on the other side. On the way back I stopped at the sign for Moturau Heights... head up the hill there about 100m and you get great views back over the lake. Then, also on the way back you will get to where the road cuts across and down to the lakefront... here you can either stay on the trail and re-trace your steps... or, as I did, take the route to the right and follow the road along the lake for more lovely views of the lake, following the road at the end .

Staying Safe
Easy.
Generally good.
Windproof jacket, Gloves, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map.
There is a Lake right next door for half of the run... plus one stream in the other section.
All weather trail, should be no problems at all.
