Head off from the Dee St start and follow the track along the embankment. Follow this track all the way down to the estuary, where you complete the loop. Once the loop is done you head back to the staring position.

Nice wildlife. Boardwalk along the estuary loop.

Parking is available just off Dee St, on the other side of the road by the river. You can also park down the road a little further on the side of Dee St.

Trail Reviews

The estuary and river bank is a regular haunt for lots of Invercargill runners looking for a trail close to home. It's flat, firm gravel, the speedsters among you could really dig it in on this route and keep a good pace for the whole thing.

A nice run on a calm day but can be a bit of a slog in the wind.

Worth a look if you are short of time or lacking transport. Easy running. Particularly good when the weather is calm and still or at change of light. Beware of the foot and cycle traffic.

A nice easy trail that is easily accessible. Can be pretty busy at times with runners and cyclists. The headwind can be a real bugger!

Easy flat compact gravel track (pram friendly) nice and central if staying in Invercargill. Nice views on a good day with plenty of birdlife around the estuary. I wouldn't go out of my way to do it but not a bad run if you have the time and are in the area. A public toilet on the route but might pay to be prepared and bring toilet paper in case you get caught short!
