A great coastal run along the gravel shared use Tuhawaiki trail between Scarborough Rd and Ellis Rd, a few good climbs and descents get the heart pumping. Real close to the city and a great beginners addition to the Timaru trails.
Features of interest
Great coastal views, ships coming and going, a lighthouse, and a chance of penguins!
Make Up of Run
Easy Single Track: 100%
Begin at the end of Scarborough Road, where it bends to the left and becomes Parade Road. There is a clear trail down to a Railway Crossing and the trail heads South from there.
There is a small car park and also plenty of roadside parking.
Can't go wrong
Windproof jacket, Beanie/thermal headwear, Cellphone.
No water available
Could get very windswept during extreme coastal weather.
Watch for trains when crossing the tracks.
