This route follows rough 4WD tracks up the Wilberforce River to Fanghill Stream and requires river crossings, so pick you season and weather window. There is an alternative (easier) route on farm tracks (with only one side stream crossing as far as I can tell) but that is not public access and permission is required from Glenthorne Station.

Follow the rough tracks or your best guess of the tracks for about 10km upriver until you reach Fanghill Stream. Look for a path on your right that goes up to Fanghill Hut. Return the way you came.

Not far from river all the way - but might be runoff around cattle grazing.

Flooding - watch rainfall forecast for the headwaters in the divide when deciding to go.
