We are eager to expand our Trail Running Directory in Australia. For a limited time, if you submit any trail in Australia and we publish it, we'll double the credit you receive! Submit a new trail now.
Start at Canyon Lookout, which offers one of the most jaw-dropping views of the entire route — a sweeping panorama across the canyon below. It’s worth taking a moment here before you get moving, as this is arguably the highlight in terms of views.
From this point, you’ll be on a shared route with both the Warrie Circuit and the shorter Twin Falls Circuit. If you’re not feeling up to the full distance, the Twin Falls track is a more relaxed 4km return. But if you're tackling the full Warrie Circuit, be sure to go counter-clockwise by turning right at the lookout.
Not far into the run, you’ll reach your first waterfalls — Twin Falls — which are usually flowing well, but can vary depending on recent rain. Soon after, you’ll hit Rainbow Falls, one of three waterfalls on this circuit where the trail takes you behind the falling water. If you’re running in wet season, this is pure magic.
From there, the trail drops steadily, taking you past some striking rock formations and more waterfalls, including Goomoolahra Falls and Ngarri-dhum Falls. These spots make good quick pauses if you want to hydrate or have a snack on the move.
After Ngarri-dhum Falls, the trail flattens out for a bit before you reach The Meeting of the Waters — a peaceful spot where several creeks converge. It’s a natural halfway point and a great place for a proper break if you need one.
From here, the trail starts to climb. The switchbacks begin — a series of gentle but persistent zigzags heading uphill. (These may play affect your GPS total distance.) It’s not overly steep, but after the earlier descent and distance, you’ll feel the shift. If you’re moving fast, this part can test your legs.
The climb rewards you with even more waterfalls as you loop back toward the start. Highlights include Gooroolba Falls, Poonyahra Falls, and Blackfellows Falls, which is another “walk-behind” waterfall that’s especially impressive in the rain.
As you near the end, you’ll pass three spectacular lookouts. These final viewpoints are perfect for a quick breather and a last look at the valley below before you finish back at Canyon Lookout car park.
This circuit has everything: scenery, elevation, water features, and just enough challenge to make it a memorable run.
Along the way you might spot different animals, so be on the lookout and vigilant. There are also some of the most impressive waterfalls I have ever seen on this track.

When you reach Canyon lookout you see a small parking lot on your righthand side.
