Head into the beautiful gardens at the main gates and enjoy deep shade, sunny hot pathes and along a vibrant wetland . This loop takes in the outermost trails around the boundary, a fruit grove, and finally the Japanese garden before exiting through the top gate.

The Botanic Gardens contain many micro ecosystems which are magical; one minute you run through deep cool tropical shade, then open dry long paths following a lakeside down to the turn around loop, then past a fruit tree forest, finishing at the Japanese gardens leading to the back gate.

Toilets inside the grounds near the kiosk building.

Easy.

Follow the paths and the lake, I stayed on the huge swathes of grass and dirt trails.

Generally good.

Cellphone, Snake bandage

No potable water in the taps at the ammenities, you can buy water at the kiosk or bring your own.

I ran this in July and August when it was dry and warm (27 degrees), It is possible during heavy rain, some areas of the gardens may be closed.

Watch out for snakes down along the river and lake side banks in the long grass and vegetation, there are signs where snakes have been seen. The wetlands is full of birds and is a breeding area for turtles. There are no crocodiles (yet) in this water course, (unlike the Fitzroy river nearby).
