If you've brought the family to experience the Gold Coast theme parks, this trail is a great local option. This out-and-back route offers beautiful views of the Gold Coast coastline.
Starting Point: Begin at the end of Crystal Creek Road and follow the trail up the hill along the 4WD path.
Difficulty: The trail features a generally moderate climb, with a few steeper sections that add some interest. The steepest part occurs towards the end of the 4WD trail, where the track becomes a bit looser. While the ascent is manageable, descending can be tricky due to a lack of handholds.
After about 2.5 km, you'll reach a T-junction. Take a left and follow the trail for another few hundred meters. To reach the summit, turn left again onto an overgrown grass single track. Be cautious and keep an eye out for local wildlife—carrying a snake bite kit is advisable just in case!
Just before you reach the summit, you'll pass an old mine shaft marked with warning tape. Exercise caution, especially during early morning hikes.
Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning view of the coastline and Surfer's Paradise. Make sure to return the way you came, taking care on the steeper sections.
Old mineshaft from the Gold Mining days.
