Starting at JC Slaughter Falls Picnic Area (plenty of parking up the JC Slaughter Falls Road), head straight uphill on Pinnacle Track for a nice warmup. When Pinnacle meets Powerful Owl, turn left and continue up the wide trail (channeling your inner owl power) right to the top where the trail meets Sir Samuel Griffith Drive. Cross the road and take Jacksonia Track downhill, then hand a right onto Rocket Frog trail. Traverse along this trail (channelling your inner rocketing frog) - stay on the trail as it turns left to parallel the road and then crosses Gap Creek Road - you'll now pick up Buffalo Girls trail.

Continue along this trail (channelling your inner buffalo girl) until it crosses Boscombe Trail and turns into Death Adder Trail. Follow this (don't forget to channel your inner death adder) until you hit Gold Creek Trail, which you'll turn left onto and follow until you reach about 12.2 km. Here, Goanna Trail is a right-hand turn - take it downhill, then uphill until it meets Ironbark Trail - left here until Curlew Circuit Trail, which you'll take until you cross the road and find yourself at Gap Creek Picnic Area.

Here the real fun begins - take Bellbird Trail into Kokoda Track, straight uphill for a solid 200m of vertical gain. (This is where you can use all the animal power you gathered earlier in the run). Cross back over the sealed road at the top and get back onto Powerful Owl Trail. It's downhill (almost) all the way now - stick on Powerful Owl until you get to the bottom of the hill, then take a right and traverse around the base of the mountain until you're back where you started.

At the start/finish.

JC Slaughter Falls Picnic Area is located on Sir Samuel Griffith Drive at Mt Coot-tha. There are several carparks within the grounds.
