If you're after a good long run in Sydney with stunning views of the ocean, a bit of vert and good look at some of its best areas, this is the route for you.

The route starts at Green Square Train Station and from here you make a beeline down to Coogee along the edge of Centennial Park (add a lap of the park to add 4km or so) and the racecourse. Once you hit Coogee Beach, make a left and follow the path up the hill and you'll find yourself on the famous Coogee - Bondi walkway. Often really busy with walkers and tourists and the path is narrow in places, so I'd recommend getting here pretty early in the morning. All sealed concrete pretty much, with a fair few sets of stairs.

Once in Bondi, run along the beach and then up the hill at the northern end. Follow your nose along the top of the ridge through the suburbs and you should hit Christison Park which is where you can get off the roads again and onto a nice coastal pathway. This path will take you out to Watson's Bay and the Navy Base out here. Do make the trip down to the beach as it is one of Sydney's best. Run around Green Point reserve and you'll finally get off concrete for about 200m!

Continue through the suburbs following the coast til you get to Nielsen Park. Here you'll actually find some trails, a rare find in central Sydney! The trail will take you all the way through to Rose Bay. From Rose Bay you can get a ferry back into Circular Quay very easily.
