This run traverses the length of Red Hill along its ridge and (if run anti-clockwise) finishes with a long gradual downhill for those that like to get up some speed. It is mostly four wheel drive track with a small amount of technical single track.

Start by taking the Deakin Fire Reservoir Track which turns into the Deakin Fire Track. Follow the trail towards Kent Street and veer left at the end of the fenceline where you will come upon some buildings with Australian Birds painted on them. Keep following the trail around and up the Mugga Way Actew track which climbs to the top of Red Hill past a number of water tanks. Cross Gowrie Drive and then Red Hill Drive and take a short piece of technical single track to the top. Run past the cell tower and along Red Hill Drive past the Red Hill lookout. This has fantastic views over South Canberra including Lake Burley Griffin and the Parliamentary triangle.

Avoid the car park and road and take a dirt footpath past the Red Hill cafe/restaurant. Descend down to the saddle and then straight up the steep dirt road that leads to Davidson Trig. Take the rocky trail to tag the Trig and then descend down the other side. Ignore the trails that lead down on either side, instead taking the grass trail up to the left. This leads to a 400m section of undulating rocky technical trail. Pass through the two posts and take the steep track which veers down towards Mugga Way. From there follow the dirt road which runs parallel to Mugga Way all the way back to where you started.

This trail includes the peak Davidson Trig.

Davidson Trig and Red Hill has a notable cell tower and Restaurant/Cafe

None at the start, but there are toilets at the top of Red Hill behind the cafe/restaurant.

About 100m up from the roundabout and across the bridge across the fire ditch there is a dirt area that accommodates about a dozen cars.

Easy.

Fairly straight forward trail to follow - especially with GPS.

Perfect throughout.

Whistle, First aid kit, Cellphone, Map, Snake bandage

No water available.

Can be hot and sunny during summer - sunscreen and water are a must.

Road crossing on climb up to top of Red Hill. On warm sunny days keep your eye out for Black or Brown snakes so pack a snake bandage. They generally get out of your way long before you see them!
